The Cut peeks inside Williamsburg's plus-sized temporary store, which opened today and plans to stick around until the 26th. Boerum Hill's Re/Dress aside, there aren't many places in the city for women who wear larger sizes to find high-quality vintage or consignment. Even the full-price designer offerings are scarce—hence the excitement generated when Saks said they'd start carrying designer pieces in sizes over 10.
Pop-up organizer Camille Newman, whose plus-size expertise comes from years of working at Lane Bryant, figured this scarcity could translate into a successful store. And the Brooklyn Business Plan Initiative agreed, giving her a merit award earlier this year.
The pop-up's prices aren't super low—mostly 25% to 40& off, with certain pieces going for full-price—but we have a feeling that won't put much of a damper on sales. Check out pieces like a belted olive Calvin Klein dress ($139) and a really cute white DKNY sweater with black trim ($69) in the Cut's slideshow, and head over tomorrow night for free mani-pedis with purchases over $45.
