Creatures of Comfort and San Gennaro Face Off in Nolita

Last night, LA transplant Creatures of Comfort teased fashion types with an opening party for its massive new Mulberry Street space. Forget whatever cozy image comes to mind when you hear the words "Nolita boutique"—this store is enormous, stark, and beautifully minimal, with exposed-brick walls and wood accents. Both Six Six Sick and Fashionista were as impressed as we were, and last week the Cut went so far as to call it "the new Opening Ceremony."

Creatures of Comfort carries labels like VPL, Rachel Comey, and Slow and Steady Wings the Race, but it turns out that not all of the inventory has made it here from the west coast—which means, sadly, that the opening party was more like a preview, as the store won't be shoppable until sometime next week. There's a silver lining, though: The annual San Genarro festival begins tomorow pretty much directly in front of the store, so if you stop by and it's still closed, you'll be able to drown your sorrows in a cannoli or two.
