Back when Fashion Week was held at Bryant Park, IMG's rental fees went to the city. But now that the festivities have moved to Lincoln Center, the money—$17.2 million for the next five years, according to sources—goes directly to the private company that runs the space. Spokespeople from Mayor Bloomberg and IMG both said that they think it's a fair deal because Lincoln Center manages the public park, but the head of NYC Park Advocates disagrees: "It is absolutely inappropriate, first that the park is being used for this purpose, and second that the money's being diverted from the city."
