Not sure about you, but despite this brutal heatwave, we have a serious hankering for some fall boots. Arriving just in time for an autumn footwear fix is Musette, a shoe and accessories chain hailing from Europe—Romania to be exact. Around since the 90's, but only with a presence in Europe, Musette opened its first Stateside outpost on West Broadway and Prince Street earlier this month. Soho was just waking up as we dropped in late this morning to check out the sexy sky-high platforms, drool-worthy boots and comfy, yet chic flats.
The super on-trend and (relatively) reasonably priced footwear starts around $160 for two-toned ballerina flats (the black with silver glitter toes were cute) to $290+ for high boots and more elaborate platform styles.
A sampling of what you'll find on the shelves: rough and tough lace-up ankle booties ($250), the more S&M stiletto heel version of the lace-ups ($280), simple black sexy-librarian stilettos ($200), bright red two-textured leather croc embossed wedge oxfords ($230, but we wish they came in black, too), knee-length flat lace-up boots ($346), black rocker booties with chain ankle detail ($260), silver python embossed flat oxfords ($228) and peep-toe python platforms ($260). We also loved a pair of towering black mid-calf, lace-up platform boots that mixed buckles and hoops ($290), but we're not quite sure how our feet would fare after running around town in those heels.
Bags are relatively well-priced and eye-catching, too. We managed to look at a python embossed hobo in a few colors ($390), a small peach quilted bag with a gold chain strap ($136), a throw-around olive mid-size duffle ($229) and a plush black suede hobo ($344) despite being constantly distracted by the shoes.
The West Broadway location is perfect for both local shoppers on the hunt for fresh styles and tourists on a retail rampage. Word on the street says that twenty new styles will be shipped over from Europe every two weeks over the next two months, plus there will be exclusives and limited editions (read: more python heels). Also, throughout each season (fall/winter and spring/summer) expect to see over 100 different styles. With such quick turnaround, we're just itching for Musette's first sale. Here's to hoping those black lace-up buckle boots last until then.
