Racked's Guide to Fashion's Night Out 2010: Top Ten Celebs

New, 2 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

You are now allowed to hyperventilate. The program of Fashion's Night Out goes on and on and to help you decide your itinerary for the evening of September 10, we've done the dirty work. Every day this week, we're presenting Top Ten lists for the events. We've already covered the Top Ten Gimmicks and Top Ten Eats, and now it's on to the Top Ten Celeb Appearances.

If you're not going somewhere for the food or the limited-edition goods on Fashion's Night Out, then you're probably gunning to see some celebrities. We're talking about the bold-faced names though, not pseudocelebs or DJs (yet). Thankfully, the stores are ready to deliver, with appearances from everyone from Posh Spice to Carrie Bradshaw and even?deep breath?Mikhail Baryshnikov.

10. Rosario Dawson at Bottega Veneta
In order to add some oomph to the pre-launch limited release of one of their Cruise 2011 collection bags for FNO, Bottega Veneta is bringing some slight star power to their store by having Rosario host a cocktail party. 699 Fifth Avenue.

9. Bar Refaeli at Armani Fifth Avenue
If you're dragging a heterosexual man around with you all night, you may as well promise him a moment with a Sports Illustrated model. After a free makeover from Armani/Beauty, Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli will show guests how to "strike a pose" and have their photo taken. 717 Fifth Avenue.

8. Cameos at Macy's Herald Square
For those who can't decide whether to go uptown or downtown, Macy's will have appearances and more from Joss Stone, Tommy Hilfiger, Rachel Roy, Jessica Stam, Chef Marcus Samuelsson (Top Chef Masters winner 2010) and Kimora Lee Simmons. 151 West 34th Street.

7. Designers at Payless ShoeSource on Lexington
For fans of Project Runway and Sex and the City, this is the place to be. Payless is bringing in their guest designers?Christian Siriano, Lela Rose, Patricia Field and Isabel Toledo?for a meet-and-greet. Payless will also have a $10 cityscape charity tote available for purchase. SATC girls can then head right over to Bergdorfs to catch Sarah Jessica Parker too. 716 Lexington Ave and 58th Street.

6. Fashion folk at Saks Fifth Avenue
It's fashion types only on FNO at Saks, with appearances by and a fashion sketch-off with Donna Karan, Victor & Rolf, Charlotte Ronson, Zac Posen and Sergio Rossi's Creative Director, Francesco Russo. Oh wait; Taboo of the Black Eyed Pea is also stopping by for some reason. 611 Fifth Avenue.

5. Sarah Silverman at MAC Cosmetics
As wackadoo as it sounds to involve comedian Sarah Silverman in FNO, MAC Cosmetics is doing it. They've booked Sarah at their Soho Spring Street store to give a live stand-up act at 8pm, but also to sign her book The Bedwetter and introduce MAC's Fabulous Felines color collection. 113 Spring Street.

4. Naomi Campbell at Dolce & Gabbana
Fresh from testifying at the war crimes trial of West African warlord Charles Taylor, Naomi is joining her buddies Stefano and Domenico at their store to launch and sign limited-edition T-shirts to celebrate her 25th anniversary of being in the modeling business. All proceeds from the $200 shirts go to Fashion for Relief. Check out one of the T-shirts here. 825 Madison Avenue.

3. Mikhail Baryshnikov at Oscar de la Renta
As if chatting with iconic designer Oscar de la Renta wasn't enough, his small Madison Avenue boutique is bringing in Oscar's good friend Mikhail Baryshnikov to help lead everyone in a proper merengue dance party. On the downside, this event is closed to a guest list, but you can get in by videotaping yourself showing off your best merengue moves and emailing it here ASAP. Or just watch and drool from outside. 772 Madison Avenue.

2. Mary Kate & Ashley and more at Barneys
When the Olsen Twins finish ringing up purchases down at the Elizabeth & James pop-up, they'll be Barneys-bound to judge a karaoke contest along with the boys behind the brand Proenza Schouler. It's mainly fashion names for the heavily fashion-loving Barneys crowd, so also on tap are meet-and-greets with Alexander Wang, the Mulleavy sisters of Rodarte, Isabel and Ruben Toledo and the designers of Rag & Bone, Shipley & Halmos and Rogan. And let's not forget the statuesque Daphne Guinness. 660 Madison Avenue.

1. Victoria Beckham, SJP, Mary J. Blige, Tom Ford and more at Bergdorf Goodman
Number one for celebs without a doubt, BG has got Fashion's Night Out on lock with their top names. Hosted by photographer extraordinaire Patrick McMullan, the evening will see visits and more from Victoria Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker, Nicole Richie, Heidi Klum, Tom Ford, Mary J. Blige, Jason Wu, Reem Acra, Thakoon, Thom Browne, Catherine Malandrino, James Mischka, Brian Atwood, Trish McEvoy, Kelly Rutherford of Gossip Girl, Monique Lhuillier, Bryanboy, Cynthia Rowley, Norma Kamali, Eugenia Kim, Nicholas Kirkwood, Vogue's Hamish Bowles, Georgina Bloomberg and Olympic athletes. We even left many names out of that list!
754 Fifth Avenue and 58th Street.
