This week, Ruth La Ferla ventures into the world of mom jeans at the new Chico's in East Hampton. The chain shares a street with Intermix, Ralph Lauren and Trina Turk, and it's trying its best to fit in with the neighbors: "While the boutique has maintained the same moderate prices characteristic of the rest of the chain, some of its wares have been handpicked to reflect the tastes of its relatively affluent clientele. Ikat bags, challis scarves and turquoise beads are exclusive to the store, other items stringently edited to affect a patrician breeziness." Still, it's a Chico's, and the best La Ferla can say about it is that she's not opposed to coming back one day. [NYT]
