There isn't a bounty of product left at the sample sale currently taking place in Groupe Seize sur Vingt flagship in SoHo—the sale, after all, has been in full swing since the weekend, and the brands—including Seize sur Vingt and Troglodyte Homunculus—are sort of a cult favorite with a very devoted following. But,there are still major bargains to be had—especially in slightly larger sizes.
The sale, located in the rear corner of the boutique, includes one-of-a-kind samples and overstock pieces. Making up for a thinning selection are the prices with some slashed by 90%. Seriously: Suits start at only $400 and shirts top out around $80.
Stock is well-organized by size. Don't go if you're a small—there's nothing left. But a fair selection of mediums are available along with a deeper selection of larger sizes. There are several suits and blazers in varying length—look for classic navy and khaki preppery as well as some subtle glen plaids and herringbone wools. Starting at $400 (from $2100), several are available in a European 50 (or about an American 40) and above. There's also a deep assortment of shirts in and around size 16.5", with—of course—dramatically varying sleeve lengths. Long-sleeved options—lots of white and medium blue for work with some jaunty red plaid and yellow micro-checks mixed in—are $80, while a small selection of summery short-sleeved jobs are $60. We love a lush, velvety kelly green or a fantastic sort of alphabet soup print in broadcloth blue.
A fair amount of stripey, slightly garish polos remain in folded stacks. They're only $40, from $90. Pants are a steal at around $80 (many marked down from around $280)—we gravitated towards a multi-colored seersucker but they were amongst a good assortment of simpler, more staid offerings. Elsewhere look for a cute selection of piped pajamas; cashmere sweaters for mere $80; and some light outerwear including a woolly bomber and a micro-houndstooth, down-filled rain bomber (starting at $120, from $480 or more).
Not much left for the ladies—just some basic blouses in white, a skirt or two, and a whole bunch of those same polo shirts.
If you're not a small and you plan on going, it should be today. The sale was slated to go on until Sunday, but we're not sure if stock will last through the weekend. Credit cards are accepted; and it's at the shop, so enjoy the dressing rooms and helpful sales associates—a sample sale rarity!
