Gilt Groupe Oversells Target Merchandise, Offers $25 Credit Instead

New, 4 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Apparently, Targetmania has gotten so big that it crush websites—even the behemoth that is Gilt Groupe. A friend of Racked informed us that she received an e-mail from the site that her recent John Derian order from the Target collaboration was "unable to be fulfilled", and was given a $25 site credit instead.

We know that some people out there have already gotten their orders, so we're not exactly sure what went wrong. Are you one of the ones who was sent a cancellation e-mail? Did your order arrive safely at your doorstep without a problem? Let us know if you'll be eating off apple plates in the near future or or not in the comments section.
