Early fall will be an exciting time on Madison Avenue with a fashion trifecta set to dominate two blocks in the 60s: Reed Krakoff, Oliver Peoples and CH by Carolina Herrera are all supposed to open in this high-end shopping area.
Between 67th and 68th Streets, CH Carolina Herrera and Oliver Peoples will soon join the ranks of such luxury brands as Dolce & Gabbana and Herve Leger. While it was rumored that the CH store would be opening in late August, we were able to peek inside and it is still very much under construction. There were a lot of busy construction workers and a sawdust-covered floor, but the molded ceiling indicates what is sure to be an elegant interior. The windows at Oliver Peoples are covered, but it appears neither of these stores will be opening for at least another few weeks.
Up the street we finally got a glimpse at the uber-reflective new Reed Krakoff signage. The mirrored storefront declares "Opening Soon" and while the mannequins are completely nude, there is a lone leather-and-wool handbag on display which hints at the sumptuous classic pieces that will soon fill the windows. The first store from the president and executive creative director of Coach promises to be sleek and simple, with glowing signs, RK-imprinted monograms, and a stark black and silver RK rug at the entrance.—Rachel Traub
