How to Snag a Saks Sign

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Blogger Christianna Ablahad of Fashion Makes Me Horny managed to acquire San Diego's Saks sign after the store closed. While we certainly don't wish any ill on our own Saks, we're sort of fascinated by her story: "My sister was perusing the 'Free' section on Craigslist and found them there...The Craigslist listing title was 'Tall Metal Letters.' Nothing about Saks, a dept. store or anything. When I got to the construction guy's house, the letters were on his lawn. Apparently, one of the construction project managers was paid to take them away and just wanted to get rid of them." [Racked National]
