What better way to cheer ourselves up on a gloomy Monday afternoon than to check out deeply discounted party wear at the Haute Hippie sale. The sale offers up to 70% off dresses and separates from the Spring 2010 collection. The sale, taking place in the far west showroom, was quiet as we dropped in around lunchtime and immediately dove into the racks of sequins, beading and paillettes.
Definitely check out the two-for-one dress rack to the right. All embellished dresses are $100, so $50 per dress is a pretty good deal (buy two, or go with a friend)—especially for a sexy long-sleeved sequined mini-frock; a delicately beaded tank dress; a super cute number with a racer-back top, jeweled waistline, and paillette skirt; and a confection made of a sequined top and tiered tulle skirt.
There were also silk frocks in punchy colors sans beading and bling for $65. Further into the sale, we had a blast looking through the $65 embellished skirts: a couple beaded and fringed minis, tulle bubble skirts (very mini) and a bunch of flirty feathered ones. Tops start at $25 for t-shirts and run to $40 for embellished tees, $60 for blouses, and further on up.
The full price list is in the photo gallery, but some items (the ones we wanted, of course) were a bit vague in terms of pricing, so it's best to ask a staffer. For instance, we got all excited over what we thought was an "embellished top" (this beautiful rose colored blouse with intricate beading design), but it was actually twice as much. As for the "dicklace, it's not an unfortunate typo but a hybrid of a "dickie" and "necklace," on sale for $60. A good number of the items are one-offs and samples and therefore on the smaller side, but we did spot some additional sizes in stock items.
There is a little corner hidden behind a free-standing rack that contains a mirror and some space for fitting, but it's pretty open (and in the middle of the Haute Hippie offices and showroom, so be modest, lest some office workers get a show). Cash and credit are accepted. Also, they will be marking down on Wednesday, the last day of the sale. No official word on percentages, but a staffer did say something like "If it's $100, you can offer $60". So head over now for the most selection or wait until Wednesday for the biggest discounts. It's up to you.
