Shopocalypse 2010

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

What on earth is going on today?! First, Groupon shuts down from too many people trying to buy Gap discounts. Then, the website for Lincoln Center's gigantic public fashion show on Fashion's Night Out abandons online ticketing after not even loading, and now, after just a half-hour of being on sale, only the $250+ seats remain, and people are already scalping sold-out $25 tickets. If this is any indicator of what Fashion Week will be like, it isn't going to be pretty.
