EVERYWHERE—Behold the first ads for Alexa Chung's Madewell collection! Refinery29, which got the exclusive, chats with the model/TV host/It girl about her forthcoming line. [Refinery29]
FLATIRON DISTRICT—We check in on that semi-tragic sample sale shop between 28th and 29th Streets on Fifth Avenue from time to time—there are often some shining stars hidden on the racks between ragtag bits of Kenneth Cole and pastel-colored European sportswear of the found-at-Daffy's variety. Today we uncovered some notable menswear: $30 shirts by Loden Dager, Claiborne by John Bartlett, Energie and Steven Alan, along with some $30 light outerwear from Loden Dager and Steven Alan. There's a full arsenal of tops, bottoms and outerwear by John Varvatos (shirts will set you back $95), plus some coats by recently defunct Operations. More importantly, across the street and between 26th and 27th, another one of these permanent sample sale stores has opened up. The sign out front dubs the space a "pop-up," and much of the stock is the same, but this place seems a bit cleaner and boasts less horrible lighting. Consider it officially added to our light shopping rotation.—Frank Gargione [RackedWire]
