The newest thing in sustainable fashion is zero-waste design, wherein designers try to avoid tossing out even an inch of unwanted fabric. The movement mostly exists outside the United States, but Parsons is about to offer a course in zero-waste techniques taught in part by Loomstate co-founder Scott Mackinlay Hahn. Loomstate will manufacture the best design to come out of the class, and Barneys will sell it next spring. [NYT[
