Marimekko wants more of a US presence, and that can only mean good things for the city's supply of colorful Scandinavian shower curtains. The Finnish company is opening a showroom in Manhattan sometime this month, but more importantly, they're planning a 1775-square-foot store within a store inside Soho's Crate & Barrel. This won't Marimekko's first New York location—they've got a concept shop on 73rd and Third Avenue—but it will definitely increase their profile with downtown shoppers. Look for the space to open sometime in mid-October, and for it to be followed by more collaborations between the two home furnishing giants.
