In the best piece of Herald Square news since Macy's was overrun with Madonna impersonators, The Real Deal is reporting that Uniqlo has its eye on 31 West 34th Street. The location has been the subject of some dispute recently: Ann Taylor, which occupied the bottom floor, wanted to transfer its lease to Guess. When the landlord wouldn't oblige, Ann Taylor sued, but the suit was settled a few weeks ago, leaving the space open for Uniqlo to swoop in. The Japanese retailer could also take over the second floor, which is currently a Dr. Jays clothing store. In other words, Herald Square might be getting two floors of Uniqlo instead of one floor of Guess, which is a sweet deal if we've ever heard one.
