Mary J. Blige's Non-Grandma Shades

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The no more drama seeking music star and sometimes fashion designer, Mary J. Blige will be adding an eyewear line to her resume this Fall. Dubbed Melodies by MJB, the collection will feature four theatrically named styles: Incognito (aviator), Showtime (geometric with cutouts), Red Carpet and MJ's (both oversize). The pieces will sell at $165 to $225 at Bergdorf Goodman starting in October. Mary J. Blige wants the shades to impart “a certain mysterious look?like a Bond girl" and definitely be youthful, as the diva promises “I didn’t make any Grandma glasses.” [WWD, subscription req'd]
