Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

People stopping through Penn Station will soon be able to pick up a pair of discounted designer shoes before hopping on the Greyhound when the new DSW lands on 34th Street. Developers are working on a brand new retail building on 34th Street between 7th and 8th, but have to first demolish the existing structures on the block to pave the way for the new retail space. Once all is said and done, the new DSW will take four levels to total 35,000 square feet for this flagship store. Yet another Duane Reade will join the DSW, taking 12,000 square feet of the building, but that still leaves room for two or three more shops. We'll take suggestions on what store would complete the retail experience of discounted shoes, toiletries and cheap pizza.
