Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Starting tomorrow at 10am, Harlem H&M will be celebrating the reopening of its newly remodeled 125th Street store after five months of renovations kept major portions of the location closed.
There’s nothing like browsing through a well-organized, fully-stocked shop on Day 1, but let’s get real: we’re in it for the freebies. The first 200 shoppers in line tomorrow morning will snag a free H&M T-shirt, and receive pass worth an amount ranging from $10 to $300 to spend in-store. On top of that, one lucky guy or gal will also get an “All Access Fashion Pass” allowing early entry into the re-opened store and a personal consultation with an H&M stylist. Which, compared to asking your eye-rolling friends if they think a pair of drop-crotch pants are the right fit or if a sheer dress is see-through but not too see-through, could be the most worthwhile gift of all.
If you’re a late sleeper or just can’t swing taking a lunch break at breakfast time, H&M will also have special sales through the weekend, with women’s dresses starting at the unbelievably low price of $3. You might not be able to ask their expert what accessories you can pair with it, but at least you'll have enough money left over to buy tons to choose from. — Carlye Wisel
