Underaged Tanning Rampant in NYC

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The Post sent a 14-year-old girl to tanning salons around the city to test whether they were following new rules aimed at protecting teenagers. Salons are supposed to warn customers about cancer risks and ask for parental permission forms from anyone under 14, but most places were happy to let the undercover girl bake. The Post performed a similar sting with underaged drinking back in June. [NYP]
