Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Jeremiah's Vanishing New York points us to artist Nate Padavick's portraits of independent store owners. The pictures aren't new—they were on display in the Essex Market this winter—but they're newly available online, and they're pretty adorable. Our favorites include Terry of St. Mark's Bookshop, Niki of Russ & Daughters, and Kaan of Ludlow Guitars, all pictured above.
