Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Label has been operating as a no-logo clothing brand and gallery at 265 Lafayette since 1995, but now owner Laura Whitcomb has announced that she's closing her doors. Next-door neighbor Caffe Falai will expand into the space.
Don't expect Label to be gone for long, though: Whitcomb's plan is to reopen at an "undisclosed location" in January 2011. Til then, you'll be able to find Label's collection online at a new site set to launch on August 15th. As for the inevitable closing sale, it sounds like a big one. Starting July 27, everything in the store gets reduced 50% to 80%, and archive pieces go for $5 to $10.
