Zac Posen's Target Collection Hogs the Clearance Racks

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Red clearance stickers layer over more red clearance stickers, and yet the Queens Target cannot seem to rid themselves of the Zac Posen for Target collaboration. The small collection originally debuted in late April, and even then we found what will still see today: a lopsided inventory that brought in hundreds of the pouffy convertible dresses, but few other pieces.

The Liberty of London for Target collection faced a similar fate recently, and one gets the sense that this is the Target where the designer collabs come to die.

If you're willing to part the red (polyester) sea, then there are deals to be had. The aforementioned convertible dress is very much available, and for only $19.98 down from $79.99. The red leather jacket is now $99, down from $199 and we're surprised to see a small stock of the lovely brocade dresses marked as low as $18.

Those with sharp eyes will also catch a few really old Jean Paul Gaultier for Target items, and the stray Liberty of London for Target piece averaging $5. At this stage, it's no longer shopping but scavenging.
