Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
New boutique The Good Home, which just opened on 24th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, feels like the lovechild of Green Depot and Calypso, matching earth-friendly household supplies with a beachy, country-time feminine approach. Owner Christine Dimmick has been selling her green cleaning products in places like Restoration Hardware and Williams Sonoma since 1995, but this is her first brick-and-mortar location. She's given it all sorts of sweet (and sweet-smelling) details, like lavender-scented clothespins and pastel chunks of sea glass. And she's tossed in both a fragrance bar and a potpourri bar where you can mix and match delicious scents to your hearts content.
