Since the Union Square Nordstrom Rack has now been open for three weeks, we decided to pop in and see how it was holding up. For a hot Friday afternoon, the store was surprisingly busy with bargain hunters, the age range of the crowd reflecting the mixed offering of designer labels.

The store might not be as packed with hip labels as it was opening day, but there are still some good finds. Past some cheesy embellished scarves, there are a few handbag gems such as Rebecca Minkoff shoulder bags for $250 in addition to L.A.M.B. bags for around $100 and Michael Kors monogrammed purses. We were surprised to see some Philosophy body washes, Stila products and Smashbox beauty kits next to a wall of Frederic Fekkai and Kerastase hair products.

Moving on to the good stuff, Elizabeth and James had tailored tuxedo pants and jackets for around 70% off, although they were hidden behind the monstrous gorilla jacket for $360. 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent also had a small rack filled with girly party dresses in candy colors next to Rebecca Taylor's charming suits and blouses for 50% off.

In terms of everyday or business attire, there was a large selection of Theory, and Vince's classic casual pieces. The shoes were the biggest disappointment, with the ubiquitous Michael Kors stacked heels for $170 and a few Pour la Victoire heels for $200. Overall, the store has a great range of sizes and some steals if you are willing to dig, but the merchandise doesn't feel terribly fresh.—Rachel Traub
