Isabel & Ruben Toledo for Target, we can't wait
As if we weren’t excited enough about the official July 25th opening of the East Harlem Target, even more exciting news is making its way down the pipeline. In addition to the usual slate of designer collabs (plus affordable toiletries and delicious snacks), the East River Plaza Target will also be home to exclusive local-designer collections. We can barely contain ourselves. New Yorkers Isabel and Ruben Toledo and Steven Burrows have all created custom clothing and accessories lines for the store. Plus, Ruben Toledo designed a beach-wear line inspired by his art work (plus, a percentage of the sales will go to a Harlem charity of his choice). The exclusives don’t stop at apparel—celeb chef Marcus Samuelsson has also created whimsical neighborhood-themed potholders adorned with bananas and veggies.
This, of course, won’t be just any old Tar-jay opening. The fully wrapped No. 6 Target Train that’s been zooming up and down the city is just a taste of the festivities in store. There will be a celeb-filled opening extravaganza on July
21 20 featuring a full-on replica of the Apollo Theater stage. Legendary old-school rapper and nabe resident Doug E. Fresh will take the stage and aforementioned chef turned Target designer Marcus Samuelsson (who is opening a restaurant nearby) will cater the event. The end of the month just can't come fast enough!
