TOP SECRET LOCATION— The folks over at Gothamist were treated to a special sneak peak at the preparations leading up to the 34th annual Macy's Fourth of July fireworks. The ginormous set-up entails 40,000 fireworks on six barges. The authorities wouldn't let Gothamist to disclose the exact location due to security reasons (massive amount of explosives, we get it), but the behind-the-scenes photo gallery is a delightful preview of what to expect from Macy's on the Fourth. WILLIAMSBURG— Tomorrow, the indie boutique Bird will be hosting the opening of an exhibit by photographer Denny Renshaw and indie singer Sufjan Stevens titled "BQE". The collaboration is the photographic interpretation of Stevens' album and film of the same name. The opening reception takes place from 6pm to 9pm at the boutique at 203 Grand Street. Sounds like a much nicer way to soak in the BQE—trading in fumes and noise for pretty dresses in background. [Racked Wire]
