Cynthia Rowley is taking to the beach this summer, opening up a beach-themed shop on the Montauk Highway next to the Memory Hotel. Shoppers can will the petite bungalow-style shop by the discreet signage of just a neon "Shop" in the window. No, it's not that kind of shop. Rowley's Montauk outpost offers her own collections including shoes, handbags, home and gardening, plus, appropriately, her surf line for Roxy and a Meyerhoffer surfboard customized by Rowley (pretty cool). The shop will also carry a curated selection of other items like laser-cut necklaces from new CFDA member Waris Ahluwalia’s House of Waris and unique perfumes Rowley discovered in Morocco.
Now, wouldn't some music on the beach complete this whole summer business? Well, Rowley has that covered, too, teaming with her friends for a hipster-glam concert series at the Memory Hotel, featuring DJs like a moonlighting Agyness Deyn and Leo Fitzpatrick.
The summer is keeping Rowley very busy indeed. Her East Hampton outpost will be hosting a series of pop-up shops including Lauren Bush's FEED Projects, Bonobos men's wear (whew, now we know where we can buy a pair of those crazy Independence Day shorts), Chrissie Miller of Sophomore fame and, giving us a bit of pause, a patisserie from socialite of headband-wearing fame, Arden Wohl. With all this activity, Rowley may need a Fall vacation come the end of the summer.
