Home Depot, EMS, Paragon Sports, and at least 11 other Manhattan stores have been caught selling illegal knives. Most of the knives were either switchblades or gravity knives, both styles where simple motion can make the blades pop out. Home Depot said they had no idea the knives were illegal, but DA Cyrus Vance Jr seems to think differently. At a press conference, he said, "Clearly, there are a number of stores and individuals who have been brazenly and knowingly violating the law in this area." Whether the violations were deliberate or not, seven of the accused stores have agreed to give up the profits they've made from the knives over the past four years and to help produce an anti-illegal-knife campaign.
