Sun Lovers Soak Up the Deals at Calypso's Sample Sale

The Calypso St. Barth sample sale opened to the public this morning at 10am, but nobody stopped us when we wandered into the friends-and-family pre-sale last night. Inside, we found rows of silk dresses, skirts, and the brand's signature tunics. We didn't spot any of the white and beaded pieces from spring 2010 or the neon and neutral pairings from cruise 2009, but there were a lot of colorful, bright florals and scoop-neck dresses priced from $19 to $99; many we saw were priced at $49. Skirts were $30, and big boyfriend cardigans were $99. Those looking for anything but loose, baggy dresses might be disappointed, but as a reader reported in the comments last night, "If you're a fan of the brand, there are some steals."—Joann Pan
