Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
This item might take the sting out of the May 25th closing of LES mainstay Café Colonial: Bowery Boogie has just learned that Rag & Bone may be moving into the space. After happening upon three handymen working on a gut renovation of the corner space, Bowery Boogie had the brilliant idea to ask the workers what was going on and lucky that they did. Supposedly, last Friday was the first day of renovations and the store is slated to open on July 1st. The location, at E. Houston and Elizabeth Street, would be Rag & Bone's third outpost in their downtown empire (joining Mercer and Christopher Streets). Mark your calendars, folks. We'll be keeping an eye on this space.
