Bike-Loving Brooklyn Industries Now Pedal-Pushers

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Brooklyn Industries has long been obsessed with bike culture, selling "More Bike Lanes" shirts and setting up tall-bike window displays. Now, they're finally selling bikes themselves through a partnership with Bowery Lane Bicycles, a local company that hand-builds all of its bikes in NYC using American steel. Brooklyn Industries will carry two models: The industrial-chic Bronks Black Single Speed ($645) and the vintage-inspired Breukelen White 3-Speed ($745.) Both come with wooden crates, sustainable cork parts, and all sorts of other artisanal details, and you can find them both at BI's Soho location on Lafayette Street. The bikes are also available online, but no matter where you buy one, shipping is free.
