Natty British label Ted Baker just became the latest brand to sign onto a space in MePa, inking a deal for the space that used to house Destination on Little West 12th Street. This news comes shortly after yesterday's announcement that Sephora is planning a late-night megastore for Ninth Avenue and 13th Street. And while the past two weeks have also seen neighborhood pioneer Shelly Steffee hang up her hat, retail in the Meatpacking District is only growing. According to Crain's, the High Line and the incoming branch of the Whitney have both helped keep rents—and demand for space—high. Which means we'll probably see a TJ Maxx and four Chipotles open there by like 2015, but let's not think too hard about that.
