For the past couple days, we've been hearing about an ultra-secret friends-and-family Thakoon sample sale. Asked to describe it, a Racked informant wrote, "I only saw socialites and editors—no random women. The selection and samples are amazing though!" which is nice for socialites and editors, but less great for everyone else.
Today, though, both Madison Avenue Spy and Mizhattan reported on the sale, so we figured we'd check it out. Turns out that nobody's going to stop you if you walk in—but be prepared for some awkwardness. The people working there tell us Thakoon invited a select list of people but don't mind if shoppers bring a few friends, making it the sample sale equivalent of a dinner party (as opposed to, say, the house party Matt Bernson threw last week.) It runs through 6:30 tonight at 270 Lafayette Street, suite 1005. Stay tuned for our full report, complete with prices, coming soon.
