Yesterday, the Gap installed all eight of its Met Ball dresses in the tiny rotating pop-up shop next to its flagship at Fifth Avenue and 54th Street. Through the end of May, shoppers will be able to get up close and personal with gowns designed by hot young designers for their celebrity "muses," from Rodarte's haute togas for Kirsten Dunst and Jamie Bochert to Sophie Theallet's columns for Jessica Alba and Vera Farmiga to Thakoon's ruffled confections for Kerry Washington and Riley Keogh to Alexander Wang's now-I'm-a-minimalist-now-I'm-a-maximalist statements for M.I.A. and Zoe Kravitz.
Better yet, the dresses also available for purchase to the right bidder. The Gap's online auction began the day after the ball, and it's running steadily until May 31. You can also buy a limited-edition Gap t-shirt celebrating the Met's new "American Woman" exhibit in the back of the pop-up space.
