"Get a Room" at last year's Design on a Dime via Housing Works
CHELSEA—The annual Design on a Dime fundraiser from Housing Works begins tomorrow and runs through Saturday at the Metropolitan Pavilion (123 W. 18th Street). For the sale, Housing Works asks fifty major interior designers to put together rooms with new, donated merchandise, then sells it for 50% to 80% off retail. This year, themes range from Thomas Jefferson to Pink Floyd meets ABBA, which are both concepts we would never have dreamed up on our own. Another standout: A room made of furniture from Daniel "James Bond" Craig's personal apartment, which we can only imagine is full of sleek '60s consoles and martini glasses that transform into ninja throwing stars. CHELSEA—All day Saturday, Etsy hosts Crafts in Chelsea, a market made up of more than 100 of the site's top local artists. Look for jewelry, clothing, fine art, and ceramics, among other things. Proceeds go to arts programs at Public School PS11. The market runs from 10am to 5pm at 21st Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues. [The New New]
