In the latest news of attacks on American Apparel outposts, Gothamist reports teenagers attacking and smashing windows at the Broadway flagship store. This time, the attacks included collateral damage to nearby storefronts, including a neighboring GNC. And a loyal American Apparel employee fractured his forearm while helping the NYPD chase down the band of vandalizing teenagers. A few arrests have been made.
With such organization (also, please note the consistent uniform of the young, black-clad hipster attackers), Gothamist wonders if this might be part of some new, somewhat costly guerrilla ad campaign. Another theory floated stems from a Tweet—"Not unrelated to migrant worker rights: smashed american apparel storefront window"—with an accompanying photo of the damage. American Apparel has been pushing for immigration reform for over a decade. Police reports are expected later this week and we will keep readers posted on any forthcoming news.
