After an hour wait, fearless Racked sample sale correspondent Fawnia Soo Hoo has breached the Steven Alan sale. Assuming she doesn't get trampled by girls in blue blazers, her reports continue below...
8:32am: Coat and bag checked. I'm in!
8:33am: Ooh, shoes. A bit of a random selection. Sadly, the No. 6 boots from yesterday seem to have disappeared.
8:35am: It looks like there are some samples left: Blazers, plaid, skirts.
8:38am: Oh! Half-naked guy upstairs. Can't go that way.
8:41am: Shirts are still plentiful up in Steven Alan. Girls are grabbing for those and for the horizontal stripe short-sleeve dresses.
8:42am: There's a makeshift unisex dressing area in the back as usual. The aisles are packed!
8:43am: The men's shirt section is a traffic jam. Shirts here are also plentiful, as are guys.
8:46am: Ooh! There's a $5 bin full of 100% silk Dallas flowy shirts in green, purple, and plaid.
8:47am: I'm heading downstairs. Meanwhile, staffers are bringing more plaid shirts upstairs.
8:52am: Holy handbags! There are bins and bins of them. It looks like mostly Olivia Harris by Joy Gryson.
8:55am: More shoes down here: Costume National blue sandals and gladiators, F-Troupe sandals, La Garçonne and B. Store books. Sigerson Morrison and Tsumori Chisato, too.
8:59am: The selection down here for women looks pretty healthy. This navy striped Demylee cardi would be on trend for summer. I see lots of La Garçonne, Sunshine and Shadow, Veda, Myth & Ritual—same from last night.
9:00am: The Ulla Johnson pieces are really reasonable: Dresses around $125 and silky tops $50-$60. Rogan jeans are $95, a blue and black top is $35.
9:03am: Oh wow, #2 in line is holding four bags including two $100 Steven Alan bags. Well done!
9:04am: There are still $200 Veda leather jackets here, too.
9:06am: There are only a few No. 6 pieces left. Girls are using the rack to hold the pieces they want to try on, so I was just yelled at by someone because I touched her dresses. How was I supposed to know?
9:17am: There's not as much in the downstairs men's section as there is for women. I see Rogan, lots of Gilded Age, Hyden Yoo (it starts at $25!), Loomstate, and cravats. And Generic Surplus shoes for $25. (Stay tuned for a more extensive menswear report coming later this morning.)
9:18am: Heading out now. There's no line to get in, but the lines to pay are 15-20 people deep.
