Do you golf? Or play tennis? Or do anything else requiring sporty shorts that actually button and some fun, easy breezy polo shirts? Then get to the J.Lindeberg sample and overstock sale. This isn't to say there isn't a ton of sweaters, a good selection of suiting and outerwear, and a smattering of woven shirts and denim. But this is definitely a knit-seekers sale, heavy on J.Lindeberg's fashionable/functional athletic gear and generally light on the wallet.
Hey Sporto! Polos—jersey or pique in solids, stripes, digital fair isles and glen plaids, contrast collars or not, you name it—are only $45. Pair those with candy-colored cotton shorts with grosgrain detailing ($50); bright, breathable golf jackets ($125); light cotton sweaters in just about every standard-to-whimsical option you'll find in the polos pile ($65—make your very own twinset!); and colorful caps ($10).
For those who generally stay off the golf course, find chunkier knits ($65) and trendier tees ($20). We liked slim white v-necks photo-printed to look like a blue cable knit sweater as well as a shawl-collared cable knit pullover in acid magenta and purple. Your next gray suit might be waiting for you—look for worsted pin stripes and subtle blue-accented glen plaids ($350, blazers are $250). Other stand-outs include windbreaker blazers in green tartan or cement gray ($150); a suede bomber in tomato red ($200); and micro-gingham printed or gray wool puffer vests and jackets in gray, black, or orange ($150). There isn't a ton of shirting, but look for wovens in pastel checkerboard prints as well as stripey work basics ($60); and a smattering of bottoms ranging from true khakis to pink seersucker ($75). Also check out a snarl of belts ($25) and a few pairs of very handsome shoes (starting at $40).
In addition to J.Lindeberg menswear, their are two full racks of the golf/tennis line's womenswear. They're loaded with many of the same colors and prints we spotted on men's racks and are priced similarly, the only addition being sports skirts ($50). There are also four packed racks of William Rast—including a fair amount of denim.
Sizing is ample—we saw as many smalls as larges and some suit jackets in sizes as large as 56 (European). They seem to have had a slow-traffic morning so racks are still pretty well-stocked, well-organized, and well-staffed. The sale is on the eighth floor; credit cards are accepted; it runs through Thursday.
