In the age of e-readers and Kindle vs. iPad smackdowns, the idea of opening a bookstore is kind of revolutionary. Capitalizing on that idea, this past weekend, Mast used bookshop opened their doors in the East Village. Jeremiah's Vanishing New York reports that a curated selection of offerings is on the shelves and crowds have been quite receptive to the store so far. Prices are also "comparable to, if not slightly less than" the neighborhood used book mainstay, East Village Books. Mast does not have signage up yet, but look for, well, books on Avenue A near 5th.
