Oliver Peoples is replacing French men's shoe shop J.M. Weston on 68th and Madison, and the switch is causing the Shophound some serious emotional trauma. On the one hand, as a well-dressed male, he's a fan of the incoming sunglasses label. On the other hand: "You see, we love shoes about as much as, if not more than, sunglasses, and the ones we love the most...well, you get the idea." His tragedy is compounded by the fact that J.M. Weston doesn't seem to have any plans to re-open elsewhere in the city. Ironically, this sounds like exactly the kind of heartbreak that can be cured by buying a pair of really elegant French shoes.
