The April Fool's Day edition of the Queens Tribune reported that Wal-Mart was open in the Atlas Park mall, having sneaked in while no one was looking. The story carried the byline of "Wiegot A. Bigbocks" and noted that parking fees were now $73 an hour, but it caused panic among union members nonetheless. "Our switchboards were inundated with calls from members who were ready to drop everything and head to the picket line," says a spokesman for United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1500. [NYDN]
