Mystery Signage Basically Justifies Our Very Existence

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Here is a bit of advertising we can really relate to: "Material possessions won't make you happy or maybe they will." Maybe? Try definitely. That's why we're here.

Now if we could just figure out if this slogan for the ages is a companion to its Manhattan Mini Storage billboard neighbor below. It sort of makes sense, though amassing an Imelda Marcos-sized collection of shoes that live in a storage slip on the Hudson River doesn't exactly scream happienss to us. Any ideas? Confirm or deny? Let us know.
