Remember last year's Fashion's Night Out? The contests, the gimmicks, the freebies, the heady-yet-exhausting knowledge that every single boutique in the city was throwing a simultaneous party? Well, next time around it's going to be even bigger. Hot on the heels of the event organizers' announcement that they're going to sell FNO clothing comes the news that they'll be doing a giant, public runway show at Lincoln Center.
Fashion's Night Out is Friday, September 10, but the runway show will go up on Tuesday, September 7, as a sort of a preview. It will star 200 models wearing designers' fall collections (the spring 2011 looks are being reserved for insiders' eyes at the first-ever Lincoln Center Fashion Week, which kicks off a few days later.) And it will entertain an audience of 1500 people, which is huge for a fashion show. Anyone who wants to attend can buy tickets through the Lincoln Center box office when they go on sale this summer. "The ticket price has not been finalized," explains WWD, "but a portion of sales will benefit The New York City AIDS Fund." If you're dying to see the show but can't save the date, don't fret: CBS plans to film it for a special to air the following week.
