WWD today confirms that Uniqlo really, truly is going to open a second New York City store at 666 Fifth Avenue, on Fifth and 53rd Street. The Post's Steve Cuozzo mentioned Uniqlo as a possibly contender for the space last June, not long after Brooks Brothers vacated it. And earlier this month, we heard that the lease was "all but signed."
Now that the names have officially been inked, it's time to start fantasizing about what a midtown Uniqlo will look like. The first adjective that comes to mind: Gigantic. Soho's fairly expansive Uniqlo occupies 36,000 square feet of space, and this new one is going to be about 2.5 times as big.
