Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Starting next week, people will be able to record the story of the stupidest thing they have ever done as part of Diesel's "Faces of Stupid" project, which is, of course, an outgrowth of the Be Stupid campaign. Roll by a Diesel store, put a Be Stupid sticker on your forehead, and tell them your most moronic story. They'll put your tale on their website, and if enough people vote for it, you could win an iPad, a Polaroid Pogo, or a Flip video camera.
The votes get tallied weekly, so after a month, they'll pit the four winners against each other for the chance to win more prizes. WWD lists the options: "A trip to swim with sharks off South Africa (stupid, or not?), a motorcycle trek across Europe, a zero-gravity flight in Las Vegas, a train ride through Asia or recording their own record in Jamaica." Honestly, these all seem like fairly good reasons to embarrass yourself on the internet, which, after all, plenty of people do every day with no chance of winning any prizes.
