The NY Post today reports that TJ Maxx has signed a lease to open its third Manhattan location, taking the entire blockfront at 250 57th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue. The discount retailer will occupy roughly 28,000 square feet of space on three levels and will be neighbors with Daffy's, which is located around the corner on Broadway. Apparently, Kohl's was also considering opening up across from TJ Maxx—which would have completed a discount chain trifecta in the area—but the deal fell through. In any case, the Post predicts the TJ Maxx opening will "set the tone for a new fashion corridor". The store is expected to open just in time for the holiday shopping season. [NYP]
