Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The Choosy Beggar stopped by the French Connection sale at the Chelsea Market today, and the news, friends, is not cheering. His review is full of defeated lines like this photo caption, best read in an Eeyore voice: "One could, in theory, put this windbreaker to good use." Sigh.

At least the prices are good: The Beggar reports shirts for $20 to $30, pants for $40, cardigans for $30, windbreakers for $50, and blazers for $100. But the problem, at least on the menswear side, is patterns—there are too many of them, and they are impossible to pull off. Since patterns are a little bit more forgiving on ladies, we continue to hold out some hope for the womenswear. Female readers, have you been? Is it worth the trip?
