FLATIRON DISTRICT—That dystopian image above is actually a shot of mannequins from the Sidewalk Catwalk project on their way to being delivered to designers. Soon, everyone from Diane von Furstenberg to Calvin Klein will be fitting them with one-of-a-kind ensembles, and slightly less soon, they'll appear in formation marching down Broadway like it's a Paris runway. UPPER WEST SIDE—New development 200 West, at 72nd and Broadway, recently made many people happy with their announcement that Trader Joe's would move in on their first floor. The tenant for the big second floor retail space has yet to be confirmed, though, and blog My Upper West is looking into the rumors. "There are rumblings that the space will house a home accessories store," they report. "In particular, My Upper West commenter Mike tipped us off to the possibility of this space becoming a CB2, the young adult home furnishings store by Crate and Barrel." We've seen similar gossip in our own comments section, which means pretty soon the West Elm near Lincoln Center might face some real competition. [My Upper West]
