Why is Target launching two designer collaborations on two consecutive weekends? We don't know, but it seems sort of unfair to Jean Paul Gaultier when the Liberty line is so extensive and exuberant. As it happens, Target is definitely stacking the deck in favor of Liberty. While the chain rather unceremoniously launched JPG's collection in stores this weekend, it's giving Liberty of London the full Manhattan pop-up treatment, as it has for Anna Sui, Alexander McQueen, and other big collabs in the past.
Starting this Wednesday at 11am, you'll be able to shop Liberty for Target at 1095 Sixth Avenue (near Bryant Park.) Expect a psychedelic springtime theme for the store, which will feature an indoor garden and gigantic projections of Liberty's classic floral prints. After Wednesday, hours are 9am through 8pm daily through March 13, at which point the pop-up disappears in anticipation of the collection's intra-Target release the following day.
